Make a difference

working at Priory School

Class teacher

Priory School is a dynamic and expanding maintained Special School for students aged 11-19, with moderate to severe learning difficulties. Many of our students have autism, and some have behaviours that may challenge. All students have an EHCP.

Class groups at Priory are structured around a ‘pathway’ model. Classes are generally made up of students from more than one year group, and teachers can move across the school year on year, working with different pathways.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced teacher, to start in September 2024,

The post-holder will have experience of working with young people with complex learning needs including Autism. Experience of TEACCH would be an advantage.

Teachers at Priory School are very well supported, working in small teams of professionals sharing expertise and knowledge to ensure everyone, both staff and students, succeed. We have a large team of in house therapists and experienced Teaching Assistants.

We are committed to ensuring workload is manageable and that all our staff have a work life balance. Our teachers have a day per week outside the class to prepare for lessons, attend annual reviews and meet with other professionals (reviewed annually). Where practical, we encourage staff to take this at home, to ensure the best quality teaching, learning and assessment on teaching days.
