Duke of Edinburgh

For the first time, Priory School Students have signed up for the Duke of Edinburgh Programme.

This year’s Key stage 4 and 5 Duke of Edinburgh students are on track to achieve their Bronze award at the end of this academic year. This will be our first group of  GOLD award candidates. They have shown great enthusiasm and commitment to their Duke of Edinburgh’s award. The group learnt how to ride BMX bikes for their skills section of the award this year. This was a great opportunity for the students as it introduced them to a wonderful service in Croydon.  Students developed from beginner to advanced riders over a 13-week period.

Over the last few months, a group of 11 students have been working towards their bronze award. They have faced a variety of challenges including

  • Work experience with the school facilities team and a local charity shop
  • Membership of the Student Council
  • Participating in Head Boy & Girl elections
  • Managing a pen-recycling campaign
  • Learning new skills within the Forest school
  • BMX bike skills.
