Admissions Arrangements

Priory School is a co-educational secondary school for young people with severe learning disabilities and autism, aged between 11 and 19. Admissions are governed by the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.  Priory is maintained by the Local Authority and entry is through application directly to the Croydon SEND team. All our students will have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education Health and Care Plan. Our local offer can be found on this website.

What should you do if you are considering sending your child to Priory School?

  • Speak to your child’s current school staff for advice.

  • Attend an Open Morning at our School.  Our next Open Morning for prospective parents is Tuesday 3rd March 2026 at 10.00 a.m., by appointment only.  (please email admin@priorycroydon.org.uk to book a space, or enquire about another date).

  • Contact the Croydon SEND team on 020 8686 4433

  • If you are from another borough, please contact your local SEN team, who will make the referral directly to Croydon SEND team.

  • Parents wishing their children to attend Priory School should ask their local authority to name our school in their child’s EHCP.

Before confirming an offer to the Local Authority, all applications to Priory School are considered by the Headteacher.

For year 6 prospective students, the school will arrange a series of visits to the current school.  Once offers have been confirmed, parents will be invited into school to complete the admissions form, consent forms and the home-school agreement.

If for some reason we cannot meet a student's needs, we will notify the Local Authority SEND adviser, who will be able to advise you on a more suitable placement.

Reasons why we might not offer a place include:

  • Medical reasons

  • We may not offer an appropriate curriculum, (e.g. where students are currently accessing a mainstream curriculum)

  • Primary need of Social & Emotional Mental Health (SEMH)
