Impact of pupil premium 2024/2025

Last academic year our pupil premium strategy concentrated on 3 key areas;

Enhancing communication opportunities.

This was implemented by our in-house speech and language department who provide preparatory work for students who may be eligible for high tech communication aids.  Our project with Great Ormond Street Hospital is a significant success at the school and enhances communicative opportunities for some students. The work includes providing an iPad with the relevant programme to practice students’ skills, prior to the GOSH assessment.  The intervention has been successful in terms of students’ communication and confidence, directly benefitting 13 students.

Development of play skills through high quality lunchtime opportunities

As part of this ambition, we recruited a lunch time play leader to develop a programme of activities for students to access during the lunch break.  As a result, we saw a reduction in behavioural incidences at lunchtime and access to a range of activities available.  While the funding was not carried over into 2025 – 2026, we have continued to offer a rich programme of lunchtime enrichments throughout this academic year.

Enrichment of the reading environment.

The development of a high-quality selection of reading materials has had a significant impact on our literacy offer across the school with all students making excellent programme and staff and parents engaging in high quality reading materials.
